User-Centred Design (UCD) is a rich and varied discipline that aims to combine design and evaluation in software development with a focus on its prospective users. It is of key importance to prepare practitioners with the right skills to increase UCD's influence in software development. Nevertheless, the literature on teaching UCD is very limited.
We report the development of a two-week university-level course on user-centered design (UCD) in a Nordic European setting. The ‘Retrospective Hand’ method was used to gather qualitative student feedback at the end of each week, while a quantitative questionnaire was administered at the end of each course. Based on student feedback, Google Design Sprint (GDS) was introduced for the second edition of the course.
